FADE IN:

EXT. ABANDONED MILITARY BASE – AFTERNOON

DAVE, [a male in his early 20s, wearing athletic sweatpants and a white muscle shirt] picks the lock on a gate with a big “NO TRESSPASSING” sign. He swings the gate open and runs toward a large building.

EXT. FIRE ESCAPE

DAVE sprints, kicks off a dumpster, and catches a fire escape ladder, then climbs it and races up the stairs.

EXT. ABANDONED MILITARY BASE

“Security guards” point to a roof. They see DAVE emerging from a rooftop exit.

EXT. ROOF

DAVE runs toward a gap between buildings, sailing over pipes and grates with ease. He reaches the edge of the building at full speed and jumps.

EXT. ALLEYWAY BETWEEN BUILDINGS

DAVE’s feet race through the air across the gap.

EXT. SECOND BUILDING ROOF

DAVE rolls to maintain momentum, and looks up [with the camera over his shoulder] at a “security guard” rushing out of the rooftop exit. DAVE turns and runs off [past the camera].

EXT. ALLEYWAY BETWEEN BUILDINGS

[Overhead shot as] DAVE jumps down the alley, missing the landing on a fire escape, but catching the railing. [3/4 shot from DAVE’s right as he] braces himself for a moment and propels himself back across the alley toward the second building. [Back shot as he] catches a windowsill, then drops to the ground and [bird’s-eye shot as he] sprints across the expansive asphalt field toward another, larger building.

EXT. SECOND BUILDING ROOF

A “security guard” speaks inaudibly into his walkie-talkie, pointing at ant-sized DAVE sprinting toward the building across the field.

[EXT. BIG BUILDING ENTRANCE] – This whole scene could be cut...

DAVE sprints toward a railing, jumps over it and sticks his feet out while still in the air, then pushes himself forward faster by bracing off the railing with his hands. The resulting force busts some double doors open.

INT. BIG BUILDING ENTRANCE

DAVE lands on his back, quickly spins to get back up, and then sprints toward a staircase. He jumps, pulls himself up by the railing, kicks off the edge of the stairs, and grabs the floor of an overhang, hoisting himself up onto it, and races up a metal staircase.

INT. BIG BUILDING EMPTY ROOM

DAVE stops when he sees the room is completely barren. Breathing heavily, he looks around the room [while the camera pans on him from the waist up, focusing on his face]. He shrugs, then sprints toward the right wall, slams his hand on it, and runs up the wall, doing a cartwheel-esque trick. He runs to the opposite wall, going straight up it into a back flip, then jumps and kicks off the last remaining wall to get a burst of speed to race out the door.

INT. BIG BUILDING ENTRANCE

“Security guards” rush in. DAVE appears through the door to the empty room and leaps off the overhang, landing on the upper level. He rolls to maintain momentum, and dashes into the adjacent room, “security guards” in tow.

INT. BIG BUILDING HALLWAY

“Security guards” run into the hallway and stop abruptly, as they see no sign of DAVE. Their leader motions them on, [and the camera pans up]. DAVE holds himself up between the walls, [and the camera cuts to a close-up of him as a sweat drop falls to the ground and the camera cuts to over DAVE’s shoulder to watch it fall.] He grabs onto a hanging light fixture and swings down, rolling again, and runs in the direction of the “security guards.”

INT. BIG BUILDING CONVEYOR ROOM

DAVE enters to find the “security guards” waiting for him. He immediately dashes up the wall by kicking off alternate sides, and barely grabs a catwalk. He looks up to find more “security guards” are waiting for him up there, so he swings along the side of the catwalk, holding onto the railing. He drops onto a conveyor belt, which starts moving under his weight. He dives into the small entrance to the adjacent room where the conveyor belt goes. A “security guard” barely misses grabbing his ankle.

INT. BIG BUILDING CONVEYOR BASEMENT

DAVE rolls over onto his back and blows on his forearms, which were scratched from his dive. He rolls backward to stand up, and then runs along the conveyor belts, leaping from one to another. He jumps and catches an overhanging pipe, and hoists himself onto it. He stands with slight difficulty because of its narrowness. He starts hopping along the pipes, until he comes face-to-face with a very large spider web, in the center of which is a very large spider.

EXT. BIG BUILDING ROOF

A scream is heard, and then a window shatters. Out flies DAVE, who has wrapped his muscle shirt around something inside, and holds on to the other end to be able to hang out the window. He braces himself off the side of the building, then lunges in the opposite direction, and grabs onto a large fence.

EXT. FENCE

[Looking from the opposite side of the fence at DAVE, the camera pans down quickly to keep up with him. It stops on a sign that says, “DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE. DO NOT TOUCH.”]

EXT. GROUND BETWEEN FENCE AND BUILDING

DAVE lies on his back again, blowing on his hands and shaking them off. After a moment, he looks over to see “security guards” bustling out of a back door. DAVE, too tired to move, lies there and closes his eyes.

                                                    “SECURITY GUARD”
                                         Finally. Okay, who’s next?

DAVE grins widely.

The “security guard” gives DAVE a hand up, and slaps him on the back as they walk toward the entrance of the base.
This was an assignment for CSSSA, where we had to pick a song, then make a short movie that conveyed the emotion we got from the song. I couldn't decide between two songs. ^^; This is the movie that resulted from listening to the song "The Real Man," (by The Seatbelts) from Cowboy Bebop's third soundtrack, entitled Blue. (It's track eight. :bucktooth:)

I got the idea of the abandoned military base from an abandoned naval base in Alameda, which is about a half hour away from where I live. This would totally be my kind of action scene. I can, like, really see this happening, even maybe as just a promotional video for freerunning. ;)
I tried my hardest to make it so the scene is exactly as long as the song, and I think I succeeded... Play the song and find out for yourself. ;)

I'm such a nerd. :XD:

Just an FYI: The stuff in brackets should probably be taken out, I know, but they help convey what I want the scene to look like; or how I would direct it, I guess.

[EDIT:MAY01.06] I just realized that the song title was not, in fact, "N.Y. Rush," but "The Real Man." I guess the real song's title still coveys something about the writing well, but the mood of the writing is better captured by the current title, so I'm gonna leave it as is.
